Aizawl, Sept 27: University Sports champion Aizawl College and runners-up Hrangbana College have both paid high penalties for entering unqualified candidates at the recently concluded University Sports.

Both colleges have been stripped of the medals they won unfairly through unqualified candidates during the last University Sports held between September 10-14 and will not be allowed to participate in the respective disciplines from which they cheated at the next Mizoram University Sports.

The Mizoram University Sports Board and Mizoram University Authority have also cancelled the college admission of all the unqualified candidates and warn all colleges that a more severe punishment will be handed to them if there are any more incidents of cheating in the future.

The MZU sports Board and Mizoram Univeristy Authority have further expressed their grievance with the violence that erupted during the closing function of the Mizoram University Sports but however accepted the public apologies made by the Aizawl City Joint Students Union and the students union of Govt. Aizawl College, Hrangbana College and Pachhunga University College.

“The MZU Sports Board has pledged to prevent any occurrence of violence at the next university sports and will enforce tighter security throughout the 2008 Mizoram University Sports,” a statement from the MZU declared.

Only in the respective disciplines? Why don’t they ban both college from participating at University Sports in any discipline at least for 2 years?

Anyway, how can two of the best colleges in Mizoram ever enrolled unqualified person into their colleges? Is there something like “minister quota” or ‘money-can-buy-anything'(read corruption) thing?
