If you machine is online and yum is configured, then it’s a catwalk.
“yum install whatever_you_want” would do the trick.
If not, you will have to download the required rpms and manually install the rpms.
The rpms you need to install depends on the application you intend to use. For totem, you need gstreamer-plugins-ugly rpms.
You can find the rpms here:

Download the i386 ones.
you can install the rpms as
rpm -ivh filename.rpm
However, if you want to run Linux and wants it to work our of the box, I recommend Mepis:

Even Kubuntu is not multimedia ready out of the box. For some reasons, they choose not to include the codec.

– You need to download the .debs.
