New Delhi: The secret is out. As Ratan Tata unveiled what was perhaps the most-hyped four-wheeler of the year, excitement was palpable at the Auto Expo show in New Delhi. As Nano, Tata’s famed Rs 1-lakh car, was unveiled, there was a thunderous applause from those present.
The base model of Nano will cost Rs 1 Lakh excluding levies.

Ratan Tata, while unveiling the nano, said: “The car will meet all current safety nroms (Rediff in a hurry makes spelling mistake here
)and all emission criteria. The pollution it will cause will be lower than 2-wheelers.”
The car, Tata said, is smalled than a Maruti [Get Quote] 800, but has 21 per cent more volume or space inside than the 800. He said that the dealer price of the car will be Rs 1 lakh, plus value-added tax (VAT) plus transport charges.

CC ringawt a ni lo. Maruti 800 delivers 37 bhp with 796 CC, Weight 650 kg
Nano does 33-34 BHP with 624 CC which is very close to what Maruti 800 does with bigger CC. it shouldn’t weight more than 800 if not lesser.

“The performance doesn’t depend only on engine size, we have to see the power and I think it’s around 33-34 BHP and it also depends on weight. If the weight is around 600 kg, then power to weight, it can be okay.”
