TOI learns auto biggie Maruti-Suzuki too is ready with a hot recipe for a dish of a small car.
From what TOI learns, the Suzuki car will come closest to rival Nano. It will sport a Suzuki 660cc engine – as against Nano’s 623cc – and wear a tag of around Rs 1.5 lakh on road (that is, excluding insurance) – a little higher than Nano, which is expected to be Rs 1.25 lakh on road.

Maruti 800 delivers 37 bhp with 796 CC, Weight 650 kg. So this car actually may deliver the same power with smaller engine and lighter body weight.

Nano vis-a-vis Maruti 800 in Torgue is 48 Nm :59 Nm at 2500 rpm,
Body weight is 854 kg : 650 kg.
So I doubt Nano will pull up 4/5 passengers in Armed Veng chho while a Maruti 800 could hardly do. The ratio of Body wt:Torgue is very unimpressive for Nano(17.8 while Maruti800 has only 11.0 – lesser the ratio, more will be the pulling strength).
Well, Nano body wt could be reduced to 854kg-wt of 18 litres of petrol, say 836 kg roughly ignoring all the standard condition for comparative purpose only. The Body Wt:Torgue ratio of Nano is still very high.

enlightening indeed. Tata Motors launched Nano website https://www.tatanano.com/. No specs published on the website so far. So we can’t sure the weight of 854 kg published else where is correct. Whatever, climbing uphill roads may be not be the focus of a small car project for Indian Cities
