Guess there would be a movie/video fan like me who likes to watch on the move, here’s some tips which i wanna share. My information are limited as I used and tried on the mobiles that I have used/ come across only but it works fine for most of the symbian phones.
For video encoding/compression you can use the free software called super downloadable at erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
What you need is to set know the maximum supportable quality video on your phone. This requires a lots of trials and errors as it is different from the video that it records.
For the Nokia e90 use the super converter and then use the following settings
Video: 768 X 352
Bitrate: greater than 1200
Sampling frequency: 14,000
For Motorockr e6 users you can use the avi-rmvb converter which is again free (sorry couldn’t post link right now but could possibly do for any requests). This software is also applicable for those mobiles which support real media files like Nokia and some Sony Ericcson phones.
I can also give you the presets for these two phones if there is any request.
Good news for the Symbian series 60 users the Adobe flash lite 3 is released, you can now view youtube videos almost perfectly and play swf file and flash games too at adobe.com/products/flashlite/
You can also use divxplayer for playing divx movies, smart movie and mobiola for wathching avi movies.
Peace!!
