At least 25 people have been killed and many more injured in several terrorist attacks in Mumbai on Wednesday night.Attacks reported at Oberoi, Taj and Trident hotel and the Prime Minister Office has confirmed that five blasts took place. Oberoi hotel lobby is on fire after the attack and encounter is taking place with terrorists inside the hotel.”Encounter on between police and terrorists at Taj, Oberoi. Our people have surrounded them and the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) team has arrived at the Taj hotel,” A N Roy, Deputy Police Commissioner.

Corruption reached endemic proportion

Alleging that corruption has reached “endemic” proportion under the Mizo National Front government, Prime minister Manmohan Singh today said Mizoram needed a government which could exploit the state’s potential in agriculture and create new industry and jobs.

“Your state needs a government that will fulfill its enormous potential in agriculture, create new industry and thousands of jobs … A government that will not be an inward- looking and that will be interested in building stronger bridges with mainstream Indian economy,” he told an election rally launching Congress campaign for the December 2 assembly elections.

Saying that Congress did not believe in a pointless blame game, Manmohan said the failure of Zoramthanga’s government was there for all to see.
