Aizawl: Aizawl is high, the party seems to be endless, anything coming on the line added to the celebrations of the Congress. Internationally acclaimed band FireHouse will perform at Aizawl, for the first time, on 18 December 2008.
To be held at Assam Rifles Ground, Aizawl managed by Odyssey Events, the show is being billed as the ‘greatest show in Mizoram.’
“Thanks to Odyssey Events who made the deal, they added colours to our ongoing celebrations, we are in power and the powerhouse of glam rock Firehouse are coming to rock us,” said Chrostopher, a Congress party worker.
The December 18 concert will be sponsored by Airtel and part of the proceeds will go in aid of Samaritan Society, a non-government working for rehabilitation of substance abusers and HIV victims.
“We do not aim making profit from the show, all the proceeds will be benefited by the Samaritan Society, from our part we want to include Aizawl among the rock venues of India, we wanted Aizawl to be demarcated within the boundaries of Indian rock music,” Benjamin Nonoa, working chairman of Odyssey Events said.
“The Pine City has gone way ahead of us, we have a lot of catching up to do, we wanted to make Aizawl, the rock capital of India,” Benjamin added.
The entire Firehouse India Tour is managed by Odyssey Events, Mizoram. The band will perform at Shillong on December 13 and at Kolkata on December 19 at Tollygunge Club.
Talking to TOI, CJ Snare, the band’s frontman said members were excited to meet the people of Mizoram. “I promise, we will rock you,” CJ Snare said.
“Get ready to sing, and dance, and party, this is going to be one concert that you don’t want to miss,” assured CJ Snare.
FireHouse is an American hard rock band formed in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1989. The band reached stardom during the early 1990s with hit singles like “Don’t Treat Me Bad,” and “All She Wrote,” as well as their signature ballads “I Live My Life for You,” “Love of a Lifetime,” and “When I Look Into Your Eyes.” At the 1992 American Music Awards, FireHouse won the award for Best New Hard Rock/Metal Band. They were chosen over the legendary Kurt Cobain’s band – Nirvana and Alice in Chains.
Despite diminishing success in the United States as the decade progressed, the band remained very popular in Asia, mainly in countries like Japan, Thailand, and Singapore.
