Just eight days after Archie Comics announced that Archie would finally choose between his two high-school hotties, the word is out: Archie gets down on bended knee to present Veronica with his proposal and a ring while poor Betty looks on and wipes away a tear. Veronica replies to the proposal with a resounding, “Yes!”

It is indeed a sad thing that Archie is marrying Veronica. Betty is such a sweet girl. She is always ready to make Archie happy; even when Archie is dissapointed with Veronica or when Veronica dumps him good ol’ Betty is always there to comfort him with open arms. There is always this competition between the two girls. Yes, Veronica is rich, ’cause Mr Lodge has so much money, trillions and trillions of it,; but you know the funny thing ‘money can’t buy you happiness’. I guess the cooper family is going to be disheartened on hearing the news. I wonder what Mr & Mrs Cooper would think, Or what Mr Andrews might feel about his son’s decision. I have always thought that Mr Andrews liked Betty Cooper, for Ronnie seemed a bit cold most of the time. But I guess the world was never meant to be fair, especially for the Cooper family. I believe, to Mr Cooper Archie was like a son.
After the wedding, may be, Archie would go into business following the footsteps of his father-in law (to be), learning the business of finance, but soon he’ll find that the business of life is more important that those green-back dollars. He will often dream about Betty Copper, but it will be too late. And somewhere deep in the valley, among the pinetrees, half forlorn, will be a marble stand that reads: “Here lies Betty Cooper, Riverdale’s Favorite Daughter. A true Spirit of Peace, too soon who passed heartbroken.”
