Say No To Tobacco – Aizawl Half Marathon

Aizawl: The State level Half Marathon will be organized on 4th September to generate awareness amongst the youth about ‘the ill effects of tobacco and the importance of physical fitness’. The marathon is jointly organized in celebration of the Platinum Jubilee of CYMA and the Golden Jubilee of Mizoram Range Assam Rifles. The participants will be flagged off from AR Ground at 5:30 am by Tourism Minister S. Hiato in the presence of CYMA President Lalchungnunga and Mizoram Range Assam Rifles DIG Brig SK Verma.

The marathon will start from AR ground to Sikulpuikawn, then to Bawngkawn and back to AR Ground via Chanmari. A shorter 5 km route will be followed by the other categories like women, senior citizens, children and those involved in spreading awareness for the cause. The CYMA had brought to Aizawl over 150 selected participants from District level marathons which were conducted by CYMA and Assam Rifles.

The Assam Rifles stated that over 1000 runners had registered for the 5 km run as well as for the half marathon. “The YMA deserves special credit for the smooth coordination of the entire event” an Assam Rifles official said.
