Obviously, this is the day that the Lord has made for our dear aunt, Mrs. Sangthangduli (1953 – 2011 ) to breathe her last.
This is the day when the tiny village of Kawrthah ( Mamit Dist ) loses its first matriculate woman ( 1973 batch ) just after a day her football team struck down the defending champion of Red Ribbon Football Tournament. Allegedly, the first woman matriculate of Hacchek hills. That was the time when Kawrthah was just a little hamlet. That was the days when matriculation was ‘ hard nut to crack’ for the villagers. Specifically women, since schooling was just a part of a curricular activity.
Spending much of their times for domestic works and pursuing hands-on-work at juming fields. Plus, Community and Church activities i.e considered compulsory for everyone of normal being. Indeed, community embrace and extremly congratulates matric achievers in those era, because its a sign of accomplishment and prosperity, a symbol of high socio-economic status. No doubt, perhaps, not a wonderful achievement to many.
However, her REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENT that marked the history of Kawrthah’s educational prospect will always bind the sentiments of its inhabitants and the hill dwellers of Hacchek hills. Our family and our children will everlastingly talk about it. Kawrthah will read her name whenever they turn on the history of her formal education.
May Kawrthah mourn her beloved lady….Let Kawrthah sing … This is the day that the Lord has made, because this is the day the Heavens will rejoice. For everyone must cross the river to enter the gate of eternity.
Kawrthah pray the Lord her soul to REST IN PEACE.
