Women from northeast India continued to be a soft target for companies in the cities like New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. The latest incident of women from the region being ‘harassed’ by their employer came to light when a group of 12 Mizo ladies were allegedly ‘harrassed’ by their employer here in India’s IT capital Bangalore.
Sources who do not want to be identified told Mizonews.net that the women, who are now taking refuge at the Mizoram House in the city, said that they were trained in Aizawl after which their agent (a Mizo woman) allegedly sent them to Bangalore to work with a garment company in Agrahara area.

“Of the 12 women 6 were engaged in stitching jeans and the rest were working in the quality inspection section where they were made to stand all day and work. The women were also made to stay indoors most of the time,” the source said.
