What would pay be like?

Military pay is no secret. Check out  at the web about  military pay for active dutyReserve, and Guard. It is  the same salary for the same rank to everyone.

Can I take college courses or other training programs while in the military?

Yes. The military will pay up to 100% of the first $4,500 in tuition costs for college courses you take in your free time. Remember, off-duty courses can’t interfere with your military duties. It is very difficult to go to college while in military. I have to drop a lot of my classes because of unexpected military duties such as work long hours, shift changes, temporary duty etc. You will hear a lot like “Mission come first.”

How long and where is basic training (boot camp)?

Branch         Duration    Place
Air Force      8 weeks      Lack-land Air Force Base, San-Antonio, Texas.
Army            9 weeks      5 different  place depend on your job
Marine       13 weeks  Parris Island, SC(east cost), San Diego(west cost)
Navy            8 weeks       Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Illinois.
Coast Guard   8 weeks  Coast Guard Training Center, Cape May,
New Jersey

What is the process to join military?

First meet recruiter and pass the ASVAD test. After you clear everything with recruiter, ship out to basic training. After you finish basic training, you will go to school to learn what you are going to do at the military. Once you finish school, you will get an order to go to your permanent duty station.

Remember you’re basically signing away your life by joinning military. It is important that you are frank with your recruiter. Don’t hesitate to ask questions. You should work to get the job you want. Be honest with yourself; serving in the military is not like a regular job. You can’t just quit when the going gets tough unless it is for a valid hardship reason (i.e. someone in your immediate family is terminally ill, and your presence is required). Remember, military is not for everyone.

The Buddy Deal. Services have programs where friends who sign up together can go through training together, be stationed together or even start with advanced rank and pay just because you sign up together. Be sure to ask your recruiter about the current availability of this and other bonuses.  Be sure to ask your choice of duty station.
