Fan files case against Mahesh Babu for liquor ad (Telugu Actor)

Two men — Satish Kumar and Amru Naik — have filed a complaint with the State Human Rights Commission against actor Mahesh Babu. The men claim that after seeing Mahesh Babu in an advertisement for a liquor brand, they got hooked to alcohol and became alcoholics. The duo is now suing the actor for compensation. Mr Kumar and Mr Naik filed the plea claiming that as hardcore fans of actor Krishna (Mahesh Babu’s father), they track all the advertisements of his son and follow whatever is promoted in the ads. “We’ve lost our health. Every day, we spent nearly `1,000 on whiskey,” they said, adding that the liquor firm should take down its advertisements and the actor must not represent such firms. They also asked the commission to ensure that the firm and the actor payed them a suitable compensation as they had lost their jobs and means of living due to alcoholism. The SHRC has asked the DGP to file a report by June 5.
