I’m an old fool who still wishes for a better Mizoram. I hate the corruption and drug abuse our state, like Manipur et al, are becoming synonymous for.
I don’t advocate alcohol but I think”total prohibition” is definitely not the answer. I think if we Mizos want to survive we have to stop being hypocritical and the government should stop trying to get votes by supporting everything the church suggests. The church and the people in it (us) are also being hypocritical because we talk about stopping corruption when we kow-tow all over the place for rich politicians and officials. Whenever our ‘honourable’ chief minister, Zoramthanga comes to Aizawl he used to take the pulpit and tell us how to live!! Where does he get the guts?!? Let him play the dirty politics but pleasssee don’t act the holy man in the church.
The question is when we, the future generation, become the politicians and the officers tomorrow, will we practise what we preach and really say ‘No’ to Corruption? And do we have the guts to speak out and show we really don’t respect the corrupt? If the answer is No, I guess we deserve exactly what we get. What say you?

Dear dear_diary, everybody wish for a better Mizoram, not just “old fools”. I know it’s frustrating, but c’est la vie. We need a Leader that everybody will listen to and follow, and that Leadership is among our Youth of Today. It’s only a matter of time, trust me…
