It’s taken five years, enough lines of code to span the globe several times, countless thousands of hours of developers time, Windows Vista is finally released few months back.
Meanwhile there is some rumor that Vista is an unsuccessful clone of Mac OSX. Some people praise this windows vista alot, but in the meantime there are also people who just say Vista is useless. So unless and until you feel and experiences it for yourself, you can’t say much of it. There can be no doubt that there are pluses and minuses to Vista.
For me Vista is quite satisfactory because of easier installation, management to aggressive anti-piracy features(???), hundreds of security improvements though User Account Control is quite annoying.
The very high bumps up in the Video Hardware requirements of Vista is one of its minuses. Windows Vista comes in different edition viz, Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Enterprise, Ultimate. Vista Home Basic is the low end edition, while Vista Ultimate contains all the features of Windows Vista. One great breakthrough in Windows Vista is the big progress in Networking. Microsoft has a long, sad history of getting networking wrong until the released of Vista Operating System.
For the first time, it’s easy to get a quick overview of your network at a glance, manage multiple wireless networks, make new network connection, setup file sharing and more; much more easier than before.
To run Vista Home Basic, the minimum requirements are 800 MHz or faster processor, 512 Mb of memory, graphics hardware capable of SVGA resolution, a 20Gb of hard disk with at least 15Gb of free space for Vista and a CD ROM drive. For optimum user, to use Vista Ultimate and to use Vista Aero features you need to have a graphics card that can handle DirectX 9 graphics APIs with Pixel Shader 2.0,3D texturing and has a vista display driver model driver and at least 128 Mb of graphics memory, and supports 32 bits pixel.
