Out here, the Post Office (India Post) and private couriers deliver mail at the consignee’s doorstep.
Whereas in Mizoram, it’s a different story both with India Post and private courier like Bluedart. I remember picking up the very parcel I sent from Trichy at Aizawl HPO in summer of 2000.
The person at the Speed Post section even made remark “What took so long for this package to be picked up (Hei hi an va rawn lam har ve)”. You know me. I am quick to react at times. Even at elders. My dark character I am trying hard to change.
I replied, “Isn’t it quick! It was me who sent this package!”
In the past few weeks, I have used Bluedart thrice. When it reaches Aizawl, the consignee is telephoned and the package has to be picked up.
At least Bluedart gives me a tracking number using which I can track the status at bluedart.com or by calling their helpline.
Why are they not delivering to the consignee in Aizawl?
And why are we quiet? If there is something I am missing, feel free to enlighten me.
The only reason I can think of is that since Mizoram is so remote, our only concern is it reaches there with minimum delay. And when our package comes, we are more than ready to go over and pick up.

I don’t think there is anything you have to change about yourself, nor do I think that reacting to a situation the way you had defines your character as ‘dark’. It is perfectly normal to act/feel like that with arrogant and ignorant people..and when we think the system is just so wrong..are we really helpless? I’m sure there are some guidelines and rules in black and white somewhere..that is just messed up that you have had to go and pick up your package..

I remember sending a parcel from Canberra last year in November. I assumed it would take about a month to reach Aizawl. It was a Chritmas parcel full of goodies and cards and such. Apparently, its still on it’s way there. If i’m lucky it’ll arrive this CHristmas? Hopefully?

bill_stones…I’m sorry to say You’d be lucky if the goodies ever reached its destination.Several bad experiences with Indian post has taught me never to send anything to India by post.

a friend of mine sent a nokia fone via speedpost to mizoram..
needless to say the recipients got only the packet .. not the fone inside!

@Goldie: yes electronic device & expensive stuffs are not allowed to send via post and the post office/staffs are not responsible for any lost of the same.
