Aizawl Aug 29: According to a report, the woman who left her three-year old son behind in a city bus early this month has again abandoned her son and this time, left her 7-moth old child too.
Malsawmsangi, a woman in her early 30s and who is said to hail from Khuangleng village in eastern Mizoram, has gone to one Vanlalpana’s house in Khatla locality last evening at around 6 pm with her two children. Taling a tale of woe to the man and his family that her husband had divorced her and left her with nothing, the woman asked to leave her children with them while she goes to ask money to purchase a stove from her former husband.
She, however, failed to come back even in the morning as a result of which the family decided to place the children at the TNT orphanage in Zuangtui. The charitable organization, FXB, on learning of the abandoned children, came quickly to the scene because FXB had earlier tried to look after the woman and had even given her some money to start a small business.
FXB has placed the children in the Friends of Children Home and if no one comes forward to claim them after the elapse of a month, the Child Welfare Committee will legally announce these children as abandoned and can give them away for adoption.
On August 6, Malsawmsangi had left her three-year old son with a woman passenger in a city bus that plies between Temple and Vaivakawn and never came back to collect the child. The bewildered woman took the child along with her and in the evening, handed the boy over to the police beat office located in New Market.Taken into the care of social worker Chhantluanga, the boy was later collected by the mother after the social worker filed a FIR with the police and the woman was located.
