Aizawl, Aug 30: A self-proclaimed faith healer has been arrested by the Champhai police for wrongfully having sex with a female seeking healing from the healer on Wednesday.
According to sources, Vanlalvena, aged 35, and a resident of Sihphir Vengthar locality, toured Champhai district since early August preaching the gospel declaring that he has the power to heal the sick. Sources further revealed that he mainly deals with sick women and some have even claimed that their sickness have been healed from his touch.
A 20-year old girl then approached him on Wednesday hoping that he would cure her sickness. According to her confession, she was told by Vanlalvena that he would have to have sex with her to cure her sickness. She further confessed that another woman was with her while he started to molest her but she was soon ordered to leave the room by the faith healer.
The girl pleaded that she was scared to death while Vanlalvena was having sex with her and as soon as he let her go, she ran to the Champhai police whereupon she cried for help and the police acted quickly, arresting Vanlalvena before he could deceive any other innocent girls.
Vanlalvena is presently in the custody of Champhai police for further interrogations. Police reports so far have stated that the man might be mentally imbalanced.

As the statement goes, it seems that the girl agreed to have sex with the said faith healer in order to be cured from her illness.
