Microsoft will end OEM and shrink-wrapped sales of Windows XP on June 30, 2008, forcing users to shift to Vista. (System builders, meaning those who do white-box PCs, can sell XP through December 31.) Don’t let that happen!
Millions of us have grown comfortable with XP and don’t see a need to change to Vista. It’s like having a comfortable apartment that you’ve enjoyed coming home to for years, only to get an eviction notice.

Let Microsoft do what they want, go the Open Source way and use Linux. It’s free, it has all the software you will ever need. And it looks way better. Dont believe me? Just visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xC5uEe5OzNQ.

Yes. But I believe all (except the ipods) Apple product are more of a style statement than anything else. Most Apple products are like supermodels. They look great at first sight, but as you are better acquainted with them (which I haven’t, btw -sigh- ), the flaws and incompleteness become more profound. Take a look at the iPhone (no 3G compatibility, replaceable batteries and not even a push inbox capability) or the MacBook Air (no user replaceable batteries-again,no ethernet port or even an optical drive, and the optional external Superdrive is incompatible with other macs) and you will see what I mean. And they always cost way more than the products of their competitors who offer the same functionality at nearly half the price. This goes to show how much the world goes by face value alone. And as I post this comment from my Ubuntu Gutsy running Firefox using the free internet connection in my room and on a laptop given to me by my uncle, I began to see the beauty of going the free software and open source way.

Add VLC media player to Firefox. These apps are MOSTLY used as “readers”, not as “editors” and require minimal support apart from odd patches and upgrades.

And popular apps created using open source obviously have the support required commited, if required.
