New Bangalore Airport Opening… at a price

Got this mail from the admin team at work

We are pleased to inform you that the Ministry of Civil Aviation (“MoCA”) has informed that the official date for commencement of full commercial operations at the new Bengaluru International Airport (BIAL) will be May 23, 2008.

All flights scheduled to depart after 00:01 hours (local time) of May 23, 2008 will operate from the new Bangalore International Airport. All flights that have a departure after 00:01 hours (local time) of May 23, 2008 from BIAL are accepted for landing at the new Bangalore International Airport on May 22, 2008. All flights that have a departure until 23:59 hours (local time) of May 22, 2008 will be operated from HAL airport (Current airport). MoCA has confirmed that no commercial flights will depart from the HAL airport after 00:01 of May 23 2008.

We look forward to a successful start of operations and an exciting experience for all our valued passengers at the new Airport.

PS: As per the BIAL, Rs 675/- will be levied on every domestic passenger and Rs 1070/- on every international passenger leaving Bangalore. However, those arriving would not have to shell out any “user development fee”

Also found out that a cab from my house to the new airport would cost close Rs. 500. And they say it’s too far away for auto-rickshaws.

So everytime I fly out of Bangalore I’d now have to pay an extra Rs. 1000 or so and spend about 2 hours getting to the airport.

Quality comes at a price they say.

“The Election Commission has directed the Civil Aviation Ministry to postpone the inauguration of the Bangalore International Airport at Devanahalli by 24 hours.”

SiLent_Man,relax… BIAL is around 50( ) kms from your residence (ka risk deuh ania o).

And i suggest that you take the BMTC volvos,it’ll cost u just Rs 150.

Tak takin a hla eeeeeeeeeeeee………………..
