Delhi gangrape: Case solved, say cops.
Deputy Commissioner of Police South H S Dhaliwal said the crime was committed on the “spur of the moment”. He said the culprits who were on the move saw the victims in their office cab after which they chased them to their place of drop.
The commissioner said they (the accused) had decided to trail the BPO cars to see whether they are dropping the girls right up to their destinations. He said they are also discussing legal provisions in this regard.
The investigation involved checking nearly 6,000 vehicles and scanning the entire Mongolpuri area, where the gangrape was committed, to scour for suspects. 15 officers of DCP and Inspector-level rank, and 300 police personnel was constituted to probe the case and nail the culprits.
“It was a totally blind case. The culprits had left no clue, even their vehicle bore no number. Zeroing in on the main suspects was, therefore, a herculean task,” Gupta said.
He said the main accused in the case was also arrested in connection with a gangrape in 2007 in Faridabad along with his uncle and brother.
Out of the five men allegedly involved in the crime, two — Shamshad and Usman — were arrested last night, and a third — Shahid — gave himself up today in Faridabad. But two others — Kangru and Iqbal — are still at large, he said.

Mizoram school lifts Subroto Cup
New Delhi, Dec 2 (IBNS) Govt. Mamit High School from Mizoram defeated Army Boys Sports Company, Danapur 1-0, to lift the 51stedition of Subroto Cup Football Tournament that concluded at Ambedkar Stadium here on Thursday.
Air Chief Marshal PV Naik gave away the coveted trophy and cash prize of Rs.1.5 Lakh to the winning team. The runners-up team received a trophy and cash prize of Rs.1 Lakh.
A 45th minute penalty spot kick by Lalrempuia put paid to the hopes of the gritty Danapur boys. Lalrempuia also was adjudged the best player of the tournament. Custodian of the Danapur team, Hemant K Gope, was adjudged the most promising player fetching them cash prizes and an ungeared scooter each. Mizoram team coach, R Lalmuankima won the prize for the best coach.
The win by Mizoram boys put behind the loss in the Sub-Junior category when Hmar Veng English High School, Mizoram lost 5-3, to Govt. Model High School, Chandigarh in a tie-breaker on Nov 24. The win this year by the Mizoram team comes after missing out on Winners trophy twice in previous two editions.
