NOT NAME BUT FACE

Friday, March 15th, 2013

He sonnet hi in hmuh dan ka hre chak.

NOT NAME BUT FACE
I see not you when see I all
Who were with you on ‘that night’
Together we sit under ‘that same tree’
You are the topic which I love to hear.
It’s nice when you are the main theme.
I smile all through the talks,
Since your spirit dwells with us.
Though loving, I cease to talk.
I wish to talk more of you
Though I act as if not.
Even only a talk of you could
Give me much joy;
But I choose rather than your name
Your face for eternal joy.

SAKHMING AIAH SAKHMEL

Kan ti ti thupui lo ni che, nangmah.
Thinlung awmzia tar chhuak e, sakhmelin.
Then reng mai e, nui hiauvin.
Kan sawi bang lo I sakhming.
A tul thin haider I sakhming.
Sakhming ringawt paw’n min pe thinlai damna;
Duham chintawk awm nem maw!
Sakhming mai a tawk lo;
Kumkhaw hlim nan
Ka thlang zawk I sakhmel.

A SAGA OF LOST DREAM

Thursday, March 14th, 2013

“Tell me your dreams”,she clings on to her lover
While they are alone in the enchanted jungle
The lad replies “My dream is to love you till the world is over.

A love story is born between the royal daughter
and Chawngfianga, a common lad in the village
They are meant to live happily ever after.

Is a common lad crossing the boundary?
Is he entitled for the royal daughter’s hands?
Is a common lad mocking the royalty?

But the firm at heart Lianchhiari
Takes no heed to her parents’ counsel
She has chosen a common lad for eternity

Envoys are sent to household of the royalty
bonds are made for the young lovers
to be husband and wife for eternity

But the love nearing its glory
has been shattered from the roots
the heartless envoy has done a hateful treachery

The cruel lie devastates the innocent lad
For he is belied to leave the village at once
the spiteful envoy broughtb a news so sad

O villainy!! O utmost treachery
O heavens!! Why din’t you foil this wicked deed
and save from ruins the beautiful love story?

Childhood Lamentation

A heartless soul swaggers through life
Knowing pain is afar, striding with a smile.
But a touch soft as feather planted a seed
Alive was a heart keeping up a beat.
A beat without rhythm; ’twas fragile and pale,
Yet warming the soul with a heavenly veil.
Soon vanity enlarged gobbled up the heart,
The soul then turned cold and pain was now bold.
Times like these childhood fills  the mood
When sorrow and distress fade in a flash.
Imagination turning paper to crown,
Revealing a world, a kingdom of no frown.
