In what critics Wednesday called a new attempt to bring religion into the classroom, the Ohio State Board of Education will consider a proposal next week that would oblige schools to teach critical thinking in all subjects.
The proposal, to be discussed Monday by a school board subcommittee in Columbus, is the latest gambit by those who believe Darwin’s theory of evolution should be taught as only one disputed explanation for the origin of humankind.

Mizoram Synod will be the next to insist on a curriculum like that, I’m sure. I’m actually surprised that that hasn’t happened in Mizoram…

John West, senior fellow at the Seattle-based Discovery Institute, which promotes the teaching of intelligent design, said the proposed new policy was “good pedagogy and good for students” because it would teach them how to sift and analyze evidence.
That’s a perfectly legitimate reasoning. But one needs to ask on what evidence the Intelligent Design “Theory” is based. To my knowledge, the only premise of ID is that life is too complex to spontaneously evolve on its own, hence there must be an Intelligent Being (God) behind it. Clearly, this is not a scientific theory that can be tested by experiment. Rather, it’s like saying “It’s too complex and I can’t explain it; so I’ll just invent the concept of a Creator to explain it.”

I truly believe that we originated from monkeys. After living for nearly 3-4 months with Goldmember, all I can say is, yup, evolution really did take place. Some take a wee bit longer than others to evolute completely into Human beings. Muaaah haaah haa.

Now, a god who’s clever enough to set the initial conditions, set the universe off on a 15-billion-year-plus rendering process and still get the results he wanted – that’s a real god.
