We’re partly to blame for this – we keep forgetting that Mizo and English, despite appearances of alphabets ARE different. So, what I’m getting at is that it’s ok to write “Aizawl” in MIZO. But when writing in English, let’s…well, write in English! So spell it as “Aizol”. Then no one (read no non-Mizos) would have to make THAT mistake.
The Missionaries that made the Mizo alphabets did a great job, but they also made some very fundamental mistakes. My pet peeves are introduction of the “letters” Aw, Ch, and Ng. But that’s another topic

Most non-Mizos get the sound wrong itself. They tell me “Aizual” and write “Aizwal”.
