If you run into this issue:
1) You may contact Music Plus.
2) Contact info for issues concerning the album has been published on local dailies and TV.
Aiwa player is known to have issue. They singer herself is unable to play this disc because they ‘ve got Aiwa at home
Looks like this is a result of the locking software used. The singer admits that audio CD is locked to be played only on CD/DVD players. Announcement about this was made on the night of the release. There is no notice on the CD cover. Why?
when I get my hands on this disc, I for one intend to play it on my computer.

To me, this appears a possible violation of consumer rights/laws. Anti-piracy software that prevents duplication is understandable but completely locking the disc off computers doesn’t appear ethical to me.

It looks they went copy-protect solution knowing that it has compatibility
issue.
Copy protecting audio CD is fine but not being able to play the CD on certain players is a serious issue for consumer.
Why (Mimi and ) Music Plus doing something that big names in the industry have not been able to successfully achieve?
Copy-Protect is agreeable but non-compatibility is not. RK and those interested, you should take this matter to the Consumer Union over there.

some high end cd players uses CDROM read tech to read data better so it wont skip data on the disc and get stuck that means ppl can sell it as an audio cd (violating red book standard) …… Philips and many other companies have warned them that including the Compact Disc Digital Audio logo on such non-conforming discs may constitute trademark infringement; either in anticipation or in response, the long-familiar logo is no longer to be seen on recent copy-protected CDs, as well as stickers and warnings that the CD is not standard and may not play in all CD players. read here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copy_Control

80 bucks is not the reason. Unfair practice is the reason.
I thought we were trusted.
https://vanglaini.org/index.php.....38;pid=192
Now, we know we are not trusted. I see this practice (locking solution that creates compatibility issue) doing more harm than good.
Mimi and her producers should take corrective measures before its too late. If in the future if she comes out with audio CD again, I am sure people will think twice before buying.

From RIAA Website:
Copying CDs
* It’s okay to copy music onto an analog cassette, but not for commercial purposes.
* It’s also okay to copy music onto special Audio CD-R’s, mini-discs, and digital tapes (because royalties have been paid on them) – but, again, not for commercial purposes.
* Beyond that, there’s no legal “right” to copy the copyrighted music on a CD onto a CD-R. However, burning a copy of CD onto a CD-R, or transferring a copy onto your computer hard drive or your portable music player, won’t usually raise concerns so long as:
o The copy is made from an authorized original CD that you legitimately own
o The copy is just for your personal use. It’s not a personal use – in fact, it’s illegal – to give away the copy or lend it to others for copying.
* The owners of copyrighted music have the right to use protection technology to allow or prevent copying.
* Remember, it’s never okay to sell or make commercial use of a copy that you make.
