Aizawl, July 24:
Political parties and non-governmental organizations within the district of Champhai had a joint meeting on July 20 where they passed six resolutions of demands to the state government.
In this meeting organized by the Mizoram Consultative Forum, Champhai District and conducted by MCF President VL Bela, the committee passed six resolutions which will be submitted to the state officials of the state by the MCF.
The committee demanded that the state government act out to meet their demands at the earliest for development of the district and to prevent grievances from the people.
Resolutions passed in the joint meeting:
1. The banks of Turini, Tuivawl, Tuichang and Tuipui rivers, all situated between Champhai and Seling town should have cement walls to prevent flooding of the rivers.
2. The Seling to Tiau road should be reconstructed as per national highway norms.
3. The stone quarries in Keifang town must be closed as the quarries are posing danger to travelers in this area. If the quarries are not closed, then another route should be constructed.
4. We demand that all doctors and staff posted in the Champhai Civil Hospital join their posts as soon as possible. Materials and equipments needed in the hospital should also be provided.
5. We demand that the town roads damaged by PHE workers be reconstructed at the earliest.
6. We demand the creation of a Treasury in Champhai city to save the people problems.
